Any­one that’s been around me, or has talked to me about music, knows how much I love A Tribe Called Quest. I have been inter­ested in check­ing out Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Trav­els of A Tribe Called Quest.

Beats, Rhymes & Life is a doc­u­men­tary directed by Michael Rapa­port. The film was made in 2008, when the group reunited to per­form sold-out con­certs across the coun­try, almost ten years after the release of their last album. Here’s the offi­cial trailer.


 
I just pur­chased a ticket for the 11:50 am screen­ing tomor­row, Sun­day, August 7, at the E Street Cin­ema. Drop a note in the com­ments below if you’re inter­ested in join­ing me. If there’s a group of us, maybe we can catch lunch after­ward and dis­cuss.

    Hey Matthew, I love ATCQ too!!! their music got me through a lot in jr high and high school. I didn’t even know about this doc­u­men­tary until I read your post, so thank you. I would love to join you tomor­row but I vol­un­teer that time at church. How­ever, please let me know how it is and I will check it out soon myself. Thanks again for the heads up!

    Hi Yolanda. I’m sorry that you can’t make it out, but I under­stand. I’ll let you know what I think. I hope you get to see it soon. My under­stand­ing is that the screen­ing is a lim­ited engage­ment, so don’t wait too long if you want to see it in the the­ater. Oth­er­wise, it will prob­a­bly be on DVD before long.
