simple often trumps flashy

I like a clever ad. Maybe it’s just me, but it usually takes something a little different or quirky to catch my attention. While I appreciate some of the big production, over-the-top ads, most of them merely entertain me for 30 seconds and then I move on. Duluth Trading Company has a line of simple, humorous ads, produced by Planet Propaganda, that hit the mark for me. After I saw Duluth’s ads, I was compelled to look up the company and learn more. Here are a few of the ads that hooked me.

What is an ad that not only entertained you, but made you want to learn more or buy something?

I like the last one the most.  It simply tells you why you need this shirt and makes sense.

I’ve heard some of their distinctive radio spots which are similar in tone to these tv adverts. First time I’ve seen these. They’re good.

The voice over reminds me of the one used in the old Miller High Life commercials.

Agreed. I meant to list the long tee ad first, but the hug-a-plumber spot had me (repeatedly) on the floor.
