I spotted this ad by Mitt Romney’s campaign today.
Blow the whistle! Flag on the play!
We have a neutral zone infraction — unnecessary bullshit — on the Romney team.
Ugh! Give me a break. No one can disagree that college tuition has skyrocketed. The problem I have with this ad, though, is that it places the tuition increases squarely at the feet of Obama. Anyone that has paid attention over the last 20 years or more (including during the administrations of Bush I & II), knows that college tuition has been going up roughly 4–6% every year, well out-pacing inflation. I could be wrong, but I suspect that the main culprit for these increases are state legislatures, or out-of-touch trustee boards, not the President.
I am not posting this to plug Obama’s campaign. I am a proud independent. I do, however, prefer truth in advertising. There very well may be some attribution to the economic policies of the Obama administration, or any administration, for tuition increases; but to flat-out blame Obama for the spike in college costs is a sadly desperate, and incredibly disingenuous, move on the part of the Romney campaign.
For the life of me, I cannot grasp why people don’t vote. But…this type of tomfoolery is precisely why so many people have turned away from, or tuned out of, politics. Don’t even get me started on campaign ads. They are just as bad as, if not worse than, drug ads.
